A resistant butterfly lavender.
A resistant butterfly lavender.
Among the butterfly lavenders, 'Dark Royalty' is a particularly cold- and damp resistant selection. Its grey-green foliage remains strong even after a very cold winter ( -15°C).
Its growth is dense and round.
In April - May this lavender is covered in deep violet, 3 - 4 cm long spikes. At the ends, the short sterile bracts (about 1 cm) add a particularly interesting purple touch, and seem almost transparent when the light plays on them. The flower stalks are quite short which gives the shrub a compact silhouette. Under good conditions, this variety is characteristic for its generous second flowering in September.
